Imaging or Labs
Blood draw, X-ray, MRI, CT, ultrasound, or other tests.
Typical visit length: 15–90 minutes depending on the test
After your visit
What to expect once you leave the office — and what to do to keep things on track.
Consider...
- 1
Confirming where results go
Most results post to your patient portal. Some imaging is sent directly to the ordering provider.
- 2
Scheduling a follow-up
Plan a visit with the ordering provider to discuss what the results mean.
- 3
Hydrating after contrast
If contrast dye was used, drink plenty of water for 24 hours to help flush it.
- 4
Watching for delayed reactions
Rare reactions to contrast can happen hours later — know what to watch for.
When to call your provider or seek care
- Hives, swelling, or trouble breathing after contrast dye
- Severe pain or unusual symptoms during the test
- Bleeding that won’t stop at a blood draw site
In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
