Primary Care Visit
Annual check-ups, general health concerns, preventive care.
Typical visit length: 20–40 minutes
After your visit
What to expect once you leave the office — and what to do to keep things on track.
Consider...
- 1
Picking up prescriptions
Confirm which pharmacy your provider sent them to and check that it’s covered by insurance.
- 2
Scheduling referrals
If you were referred to a specialist, ask the front desk how to book or check your patient portal.
- 3
Getting test results
Most results post to the portal within 1–7 days. Call if you don’t hear back within two weeks.
- 4
Booking your follow-up
If a follow-up was recommended, schedule it before you leave or set a reminder.
When to call your provider or seek care
- Chest pain, sudden shortness of breath, or fainting
- Sudden weakness, numbness, or trouble speaking
- High fever that doesn't respond to medication
- Severe or worsening pain
In an emergency, call your local emergency number.
